Right now I'm sitting on my bed while my roommate plays with the puppies. I just got back from a run/walk with Ginger, the puppies' mother. My schedule these days usually goes something like this:
6:45 AM -- I wake up to the sound of the puppies tearing up their papers and crying.
7:00 AM -- I let the puppies out of their cage to eat/play. They are self-sufficient enough now that, once I've picked up all three poos, I can usually leave my room to make coffee and breakfast and bring it back.
8:30 AM -- The puppies go back to bed, and I get in the shower.
9:00 AM -- I have an hour to do chores and/or eat breakfast if I didn't get the chance.
10:00 AM -- The puppies wake up again and cry, cry, cry. I take them out one by one to do their potties outside (they're getting the hang of it!). I read a little or go online while supervising more indoor play.
11:30 AM -- The puppies go back to bed. Here I usually have about 2 1/2 hours to get some things done. I'll go grocery shopping or do some big task, maybe eat lunch. Hopefully I don't waste the whole time online!
2:00 PM -- And again, it's puppy time. They play for about 2 hours.
4:00 PM -- I make my lunch, if I haven't done so already, and take Ginger (the mother dog) for a run/walk.
5:30 PM -- I get back at about the same time my roommate comes home from work, and we play with the puppies and try to get them to eat since I don't like to feed them during their final nighttime play time.
7:00 PM -- Television and dinner.
9:00 PM -- Puppies again, until they wear themselves (and me!) out, usually by 10:30 or 11 PM.
Middle of the night -- One or two out of every three nights I have to get up for some reason, usually dog poo-related.
As you can see, all the little creative things I want to do have to be worked in around the puppies' schedule. Also, they're 10 weeks old now, so I ought to be training them to be good puppies during their playtimes rather than merely tucking in my extremities and hoping I survive the onslaught of their naughtiness.
All this to excuse another month nearly devoid of creative output. Here's the rundown:
Daily Translations: None.
Daily Short Stories: None.
Weekly "Quality," non-puppy-related YouTube Videos: None.
Weekly "Quality" Photographs: This month I experimented with using the zoom feature in combination with the timer, and another time I tried the "continuous" feature, which takes photos automatically 2.5 times per second.
Here are the zoom photos:
(A sugar pot my sister gave me. She bought it from a potter somewhere in Appalachia.)
(A nandina bush.)
(A wrought iron bench in front of a distressed shutter.)
Now the "continuous" function photographs. The camera only takes six in a row (which I don't consider very continuous), so the first six are one set, then there's an isolated single photograph, followed by another set of six. If you click on the first photo to enlarge it, you can right-arrow quickly through all thirteen photos so that it looks like a little movie. (I had to set manual settings to use this function, and I haven't figured those out yet, so the photos are dark even though they were taken in the early afternoon.):
Weekly "Artwork": I got out some 10-year-old tubes of water colors, and the caps were stuck on the blue and yellow, so I only had black, brown, and red to work with. I couldn't find my brushes, so I used my pinky finger and the tag from a tea bag to paint an "anti-landscape":
(Oh well, it's a start.)
Later I got out an almost-dried-up Pigment Liner and drew blind contour gestures of the puppies as they played. They move so fast! The drawings aren't great at all, but at least I took the time to practice?:
Weekly Essays: None that I'd like to link to.
Weekly Exercise Goals: When I wrote my January summary on February 12, I planned to do crunches (any number, any kind) every day for the rest of the month. I only did them about half the days.
In March, I would like to try a healthy diet for at least a week, something simple like brown rice, eggs, and raw fruits and vegetables. I have a few raw food "cookbooks," so I ought to be able to stay on track with my recipes goal. I would also like to do crunches every day, as I intended to in February.
Monthly Performance of an Original Song: None. I still need to get a better video camera. But I should have done this anyway!!
Monthly Design and Creation of a Shirt or Dress: None. I still need a sewing machine. I've sewed things by hand in the past, and by the time you realize it isn't going to look good on you, you've wasted 30 hours. (I was listening to an audiobook, so it wasn't a total waste. But still.)
Monthly Book Review: None. I can't believe I've gone so long without finishing a book. I've read some magazine articles and a lot of newspaper articles before using them to line the puppies' enclosure. And I've read SO many gosh-darn tweets. I want to cut back to an hour or less of Internet consumption per day.
Goal of Trying 100 New Recipes in 2013: STILL ON TRACK!!! I have to eat no matter what, so I've managed to keep up. I tried eight new recipes again. Some months I'm going to have to do nine or ten, but for now, I'm very happy with my progress. This time I made each heading a link. (I might go back and add photos and links for January too.):
