Things I Did in March

I'm not going to go through the whole rigamarole this time. I took care of the puppies, and I tried a ton of recipes. I even have one more recipe for March to write up still. Maybe I'll come back and update this, or maybe not. It's nine days into the month, so probably not.

I wrote a couple of "Moment of Self-Analysis" essays, but other than that, I did basically none of the creative things that this exercise in futility is intended to wrench out of me.

As far as exercise, I did "some crunches" most of the days... usually about fifty? (Not having a specific number to hit has made it much easier for me to stick with this exercise and actually do it.) Between that and squatting or bending to lift 3 5-pound puppies a thousand times a day, I wake up every morning hardly able to bend enough to put my clothes on. And I'm growing biceps!!

I only tried two raw recipes, one of which was inedible, so I gave up on that. I'm at my normal weight (around 130 pounds) and waist measure (around 29 inches). As I was falling asleep (or waking up?), I remembered my old FitDay password, so maybe I can start using that again. I'm primarily concerned with keeping track of nutrients and the balance of fat/carbs/protein in my diet. Also, I'd like to try new exercises and make a card (index card?) for a different exercise from my exercise books every day so that I end up with a little deck I can shuffle. Once all the good exercises are on cards I can choose a different one (or more) each day and not always be doing the same old things, although I would also like to keep up with the crunches--that seems to be going well.

Here's to the final 2/3 of April--may I do something creative, before my soul shrivels away within me.

UPDATE: I did take some "fancy pictures" in March... I just didn't want to count them since I didn't use any of the advanced features of my camera (I have got to figure out how to use the manual settings. How hard can it be?). But, since the "Things I Did" series is all about just getting some creative things done, whatever they are, I might as well post these:

One morning I went out and the buds of the Japanese maple seemed to have burst open all at once:

This is a view I stare at a lot while waiting for the puppies to do their business. One day before we "got some weather," the light looked like this (it actually looked twice as cool before I ran to get my camera):

This is the view coming back from the garbage can (where the puppy business goes). I wanted to record that the tiny scrap of a vinca vine that I watered all last summer lived through the winter and finally bloomed:
